Myth Taverna & Lounge is a bar, a restaurant and a nightclub rolled into one that will surely entice anyone, whether they are looking for a laid-back afternoon or just want to get funky on weeknights. Situated in the corner of Post and San Jose streets, Myth offers a Greek-themed experience.

Formerly a beach bar, Ray Shafazand transformed this place into a sleek club, without overemphasizing to be one of the Vegas-type clubs. It is a complete turnaround from its nearby bars with its casual and laid-back appearance.

Accommodation

Myth features stone motif on its bar top, patio and interior design. The wall has interesting fixtures with splash colored lights on flat rock waterfall. This place has plenty of lounge tables and booths which are primarily used for bottle service every club night. But if you’re looking for spot to relax and unwind, the huge, classy patio offers a cozy space, coupled with accommodating stools.

Drinks and Apps

For only $10 ($2 off on happy hours – 3pm to 7pm), you can enjoy the bar’s signature cocktails: The Greek 75, the Achilles Heel and Whiskey Sour. Greek 75 is a variation of the sparkling and classical cocktail, French 75. This refreshing drink features gin base, shaken with topped Prosecco and finished cherry and lemon
wedge garnish. Achilles Heel, on the other hand, lives up to its mythical name. The combination of Pimm’s no. 1 and yellow charteusse are rarely found in a cocktail drink. Surprise your senses as this drink is added with citrus, lemon and egg whites. And last, but not the least is the most common drink, the Whiskey Sour. It uses egg white for the froth, added with Bourbon and fresh lemon juice.

And of course, the bar’s Greek influence wouldn’t be complete without its stand-offish and crowd-pleasing food – the Greek fries, the dolmathes and the Greek meatballs.

Crowd

Downtown San Jose is a crowded place, with people work in nearby offices or group of friends, and some singles and couples every now and then. Myth plays live music every Wednesday which attracts mostly middle-of-the-road people. Flown-in celebrity DJs from Vegas pump up the younger crowd every Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Myth Taverna and Lounge is located at 152 Post St., San Jose, open from 11am-10pm on Mondays till Wednesday; 11am-2am Thursday and Friday; and 5pm-2am every Saturday. They are closed on Sundays.
